Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund

The Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund, administered by Person-to-Person, will be disbursed primarily to residents of greater Norwalk to replace household items, personal belongings and appliances, and, as needed, will support moving expenses and security deposits.

Financial Eligibility

To determine if your household is financially eligible for a Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund grant, you must first determine the combined annual income of all members of the household who are 16 years of age and older and not in school. Sources of income include, but are not limited to: employment, social services agencies, public assistance and individual support.

Eligible applicants are those households with annual incomes less than or equal to 50% of the area median income, adjusted for family size (see below). Assistance to households earning more than 50% of the area median income but having extenuating circumstances that have imposed financial hardship caused by Hurricane Sandy will be considered on a case-by-case basis, however assistance will not be provided to households earning more than 80% of the area median income, adjusted for family size. Income limits are outlined in the following table:

Eligible needs must be the result of losses or damages caused by Hurricane Sandy and not otherwise covered by insurance, FEMA, SBA or other assistance.  Please contact Marina Thomas at 203-656-4631 x133 to make an appointment regarding your losses and damage, limited to household goods and appliances, and personal belongings. Person-to-Person may also consider assistance with moving costs and security deposits, if the move is a result of Hurricane Sandy damages.
