The annual P2P MLK Scholarship was presented on January 20th at a ceremony honoring Dr. King, hosted by Stamford NAACP. As part of P2P’s Scholarship Program, the MLK award recognizes the achievements of a college senior who demonstrates a commitment to service along with academic accomplishments.⠀

This year’s scholarship recipient is Norwalk resident Mahogany Tillman, who will be graduating from Sacred Heart University’s nursing program in May. As the first in her family to graduate from high school, Mahogany has overcome many challenges on the path to her goals, all while seeking opportunities to give back to her community. ⠀

Mahogany received scholarship support from Person-to-Person while she pursued studies at Norwalk Community College and then during the nursing program at Sacred Heart University. “Receiving the scholarship makes me feel valued and like I am on the right path. It will help me continue to make a difference in other people’s lives.”

Mahogany will be attending Southern New Hampshire University next year to pursue her Bachelors Degree in Nursing, and hopes to pursue a Master’s Degree in the future. In addition to her professional pursuits, Mahogany is committed to a life of service and to using her professional skills to help others in need.

Mahogany was joined at the scholarship ceremony by her mother Hope, and her great aunt Carol.
