At a festive fundraiser held at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien, more than 300 people gathered for the benefit of Person-to-Person – a community-supported agency that provides emergency assistance for basic needs and support for individuals and families as they move towards stability.

The event featured keynote speaker Jeannette Walls, author of the bestselling book “The Glass Castle,” a memoir of resilience and redemption. Walls shared the story of her childhood — a turbulent, free-spirited adventure punctuated by poverty and neglect — and how it shaped her life. Laila Bravo captivated the guests with her personal life story, which included a period of homelessness, and how she was helped by Person-to-Person. Local philanthropist Patricia C. “Pat” Phillips was honored by P2P with the inaugural ‘Transforming Lives Award’.

The event, capped off with a balloon fundraiser, was an unqualified success. The generosity of the guests and sponsors – including GE Energy Financial Services, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Pitney Bowes, First County Bank and Moffly Media/New Canaan Darien Magazine – makes it possible for Person-to-Person to continue providing help, hope and opportunity to the families and individuals who come to the agency for assistance.
