This African American Philanthropy Month, Person to Person celebrates a powerful legacy of generosity, service, and collective action.

The tradition of African American philanthropy has long demonstrated what is possible when people come together to strengthen their communities and create opportunity for others.

That spirit has a special connection to P2P. Our organization was founded in 1968 in response to social injustice, inspired in part by the vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his commitment to service, justice, and shared responsibility. Today, those values continue to guide our work as we help individuals and families facing food and financial insecurity move toward greater stability.

Throughout August, we honor the African American philanthropists, volunteers, leaders, and community members whose generosity strengthens our collective future.

When we lift one another, Everybody Rises.
