As fall schedules take shape, now is the perfect time to make volunteering part of your routine. Whether you are new to P2P, ready to return, or interested in trying a different role, there is a meaningful way for you to help.

Your Time Makes a Difference

P2P relies on approximately 4,000 volunteers each year to serve thousands of neighbors seeking food, clothing, emergency assistance, and other essential support. Every shift helps us sort donations, prepare groceries, stock shelves, make deliveries, welcome clients, and keep our programs running smoothly.

Volunteer opportunities are available at our Darien, Norwalk, and Stamford locations and throughout the community. You can

  • Prepare or distribute groceries
  • Help clients shop for food or clothing
  • Sort food and clothing donations
  • Deliver groceries to homebound clients
  • Support our Mobile Food Pantry
  • Assist with reception, food drives, or special events

Most shifts are two to four hours, and regular and occasional opportunities are available. We also offer the flexibility to Share A Shift if you are tight on time but still wish to participate. No experience is needed for most roles, and training is provided.

Good for You and Your Community

Volunteering can provide a greater sense of purpose, reduce stress, build new friendships, and strengthen your connection to the community. In our volunteer surveys, P2P volunteers say they find the work fulfilling, value the personal connections they make, and enjoy opportunities to put their skills to meaningful use.

For companies, volunteering is a meaningful way to strengthen teamwork while supporting local families. Employer-supported volunteer programs have been associated with stronger employee engagement, job satisfaction, and retention.

If you have volunteered with P2P before, we would love to welcome you back. You can also try a new role or invite a friend, family member, or coworker to join you.
