September is Hunger Action Month. It’s a month dedicated to all of us working together to help fight hunger in our community.

How will you take action?

It’s hard to believe that here in Fairfield County, one of the wealthiest areas in the nation, food insecurity not only exists, it’s been increasing over the last few years. Over the last five years Person to Person (P2P) has provided 120% more food to individuals and families through our food assistance program. In 2018 we provided enough food for 984,144 meals; in 2022 we provided enough food for 2,163,987 meals.

We need your help to provide healthy, nutritious groceries for the clients we serve.

When you support P2P’s food program you are fueling P2P’s extensive food assistance program, including our Darien food pantry, Norwalk food pantry, Stamford mobile food pantry (P2P on Wheels), and our Door2Door home delivery program. Together we will ensure that we are getting food where it needs 2 be.

Below are five ways you can join the fight against hunger.

#FightHungerWithP2P

Here are five ways you can join the fight against hunger this HUNGER ACTION MONTH.

  1. Make a Financial Donation. For each $1 donated, P2P is able to purchase $5 worth of food. CLICK HERE to donate.
  2. Make a Food Donation. Donate non-perishable food to a P2P food pantry. For Hunger Action Month we are asking for Breakfast Foods, including cold cereal, hot cereal, pancake/waffle mix, and breakfast/protein bars. Or, CLICK HERE for a list of our most needed items.
  3. Host a Back-to-School Breakfast Food Drive. Food Drives are a great way to get your community or business involved and increase donation amounts. P2P will help promote your drive and can arrange food donation pickup if needed. Email Juri Garone at jurigarone@p2pHelps.org to get started.
  4. Volunteer. Join P2P as a volunteer to help us get food where it needs 2 be. You, your community group, or co-workers can assist in our Darien food pantry, Norwalk food pantry, Stamford mobile food pantry, Stamford warehouse, or Door2Door home delivery program. Email Sarah Demark at sarahdemark@p2pHelps.org to get started.
  5. Orange You Going to Share? Share P2P’s Hunger Action Month message with your friends on social media, by email, or call them up — encourage them to donate or volunteer.

Thank you!

P.S. If you’re curious about the color orange, orange is the official color of hunger awareness.
