A red balloon on your mailbox in May can mean one thing: a local child whose family otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it will have their best summer ever with the chance to attend summer camp. For 24 years, OPUS for Person-to-Person has raised vital funds to give children enriching summer experiences while their parents are able to continue working to put food on the table and a roof over their heads.
But this year, everything is different.
Many are no longer working, and with COVID-19 protocols in place, it’s unclear to what extent camps will be able to operate. One thing is clear, the families of the 400 children who would have participated in P2P’s Campership program need our help now more than ever. With your help, we can send as many children to camp as possible and still provide them with healthy food to keep growing, strong financial assistance to keep them safely housed, and help offset bills during this critical time. This year we are launching Balloons for Families!
