We are proud to celebrate the one year anniversary of P2P on Wheels-  with a great party and an editorial in the Stamford Advocate.

Affectionately called “Phil the Truck,” P2P now serves an additional 160 families each week in Stamford with nutritious food for homemade meals and assists clients with casework counseling services and emergency financial assistance.  By bringing nutritious food to neighborhoods throughout the city, we are better able to meet the needs of individuals and working families in Stamford.

On April 10th, Phil’s friends gathered to celebrate that milestone as well as the impact this initiative has had in addressing hunger and food insecurity in Stamford. Our mobile pantry visits four Stamford area organizations every week, providing 7 full days of nutritious food to 45 households per day. In 2018, we provided food for 224,617 meals to 4,082 individuals in Stamford. We were grateful to have several of our board members in attendance, as well as State Representative Terrie Wood and Stamford Mayor David Martin, who proclaimed today “Phil The Truck Day” in the city!

We are also very pleased to share with you John Breunig’s editorial in the Stamford Advocate from this weekend.  John attended Phil’s party last week and his column highlights the powerful ways that the P2P mobile food pantry is meeting needs in the community. Like John, we are calling for your support – from volunteering and donating, to sharing Phil’s story with your friends and colleagues.
